Taeg - mister

Today I had just gotten off the phone with a friend and put my phone down. Then for about 10 minutes I could not find the phone anywhere. I looked in the fridge. In the pantry. In the garbage. Everywhere. I asked Taegen if he could help me find my phone.

Taegen: "If I find it can I have $50?"
Me: "I will give you a quarter?"
Taegen: "Ok" - he climbs up on the counter, lifts up the paper towel holder, reaches for my phone, pulls it out and says, "Here. Where's my $50?"

I think I'm in trouble.

Letter from mom

Taegen Boy,

You are so much fun right now (most the time). You ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS want to play games and it drives me nuts. Seriously, you ask me to play a game with you at least 15 times a day. Your favorite games are:
  • Dinosaur - where we run around and try to eat each other.
  • Dungeon - where I chase you boys around and have to put you in the dungeon (beanbag or jungle gym) and then you escape and I chase you again.
  • Hide-n-seek - you are actually learning how to really hide now.
  • Don't break the ice -
  • Any adult game in the game closet. You always want to play games like cribbage or cards or something that you have absolutely zero idea how to do.
You always tell me you love me most. I then tell you that I love you most and we continue like this for awhile. I love this. Even when people are around you always say no mom, I love you most.

You also ALWAYS ask me if I'm mad. It drives me crazy. I can be happy and smiling and you say "are you mad mom?" Then if I say no, you say "are you happy mom?" Then you usually ask Kyler and Strider if there mad too.

You are an amazing big brother to Kyler and Strider. You always want one of them on your team in hide and seek and you are so patient with them. You always take Kyler's hand when you want him to come with you. You always want Kyler to sit by you in primary too.

You also have a great ability at telling me if someone is stinky. If you smell stink you go and smell Kyler and Strider's bums and tell me who is stinky. If I think someone is stinky then I will ask you just so you smell their bums instead of me. :):)

You LOVE sweets. You love donuts, cookies, brownies, candy...anything BUT you always share.

You are really fun to be around and you are really growing up so fast. Today you were on your bed for like 20 minutes trying to make your bed for the first time all by yourself. After you were done you came and told me to close my eyes because you had a surprise for me. I LOVED it. You even let Kyler help you. It had a lot of bumps in it but you (and I) were so proud of you.

The other day I caught you in the front room dancing like Alex (the lion from Madagascar). You stood in the front room and said "you put your legs out then your hands and then you shake your bum." You turned around and saw me looking at you and you got all embarrassed. It was super cute. You are sure cute when you are embarrassed.

I love you Taeg's. I'm sad that you are growing up so fast but it sure is fun to see all the new things you are learning.

Love,
Mom

There's a Bee in my bum.

Taegen had a belly ache.

Mom: "So you need to go potty?"
Taegs: "yes" proceeds to the bathroom and starts crying.
Mom: "What's the matter? Does it hurt?"
Taegen: "My bum hurts. It stings."
Mom: "It's okay."
Taegen: "Get it out!"
Mom: "Get what out?"
Taegen: "The bee. It's stinging me."

Need I say this but there wasn't a bee. Just stingy runny poop. Poor kiddo.

Randomness:

A few random things:

I love how looking at the boys is like looking at stairs even though Taeg's and Kyler are the same age and Strider is 2 1/2 years behind. The difference in height between Strides and Kyler is about the same as between Kyler and Taegen. Love these boys. Me and the boys made a trip to the zoo on Saturday (without Ryan who was working :() because it was 47 degrees. Today it's freezing but we took advantage of the "nice" weather while we could.
Taegen LOVES LOVES snow, outside, sledding..etc. He absolutely LOVES his new sled. Thanks gma. We went sledding a few weeks ago on a hill by our house. It was rather difficult to carry Strider and the tube and try to help Kyler up the hill. Taegen LOVED it. Kyler actually went down the hill twice but wouldn't walk back up. Strider just cried the whole time.
A few days ago the boys were "going to work". They got all the things they needed and then got on their boat. Then they came in the kitchen to give me kisses and hugs. Then they gave Strider kisses and hugs. Then they got on their boat. Taegen started rowing with his horse and totally disheartened said "Mom, we're not moving!" He was so bummed that they weren't moving but they had a great time at work and when they got home they gave me and Strides a hug and a kiss again. Good times.

Merry Christmas Program

Taegen's preschool, Christ Lutheran, had a children's Christmas program. It was for the pre-school kiddos and the church's Sunday school kids. They had a 2 hour practice on Saturday morning and only a few pre-schoolers showed up. They taught all the pre-schoolers how to use the bells and where they needed to be for their songs, etc. On Sunday, a lot more pre-schoolers showed up and since they hadn't learned the bells....none of the pre-schoolers got to do the bells. So, what was the point of us going to the rehearsal on Saturday? I'm still not sure. But, Taegen was SO cute dressed up as a wise man. The pictures with him in yellow are from the rehearsal on Saturday. The blue are from the actual program. It makes me feel bad that we don't have family nearby to come watch the boys in things like this but we have FABULOUS neighbors. Christy, Scott, Michael and Matthew all came to watch. Taegen was thrilled to have all of us watch, although a little shy at first. Ryan had to sit by him for the first half until he got a little more comfortable.

The program was cute too. A lot of the songs are praising Jesus and not the typical "Mormon" songs. So it was fun to watch. I enjoy seeing other religions especially since my kid is going there to pre-school.

First EVER field Trip.

Taegen's pre-school went on there first field trip. Now, this was my first field trip with any of my kids. So exciting!! It totally made me so happy to have a hubby that works so hard so I can stay home and take part in all these fun kid things. Taegen's best buddy is Connor. They are really cute together. In the car ride to the pumpkin patch. Taegen starting singing his ABC's like this "ABCDEADESDG" and Connor said "That's not right it goes like this ABCZZZZZZZZZ." Two peas in a pod I guess.Taegen and Connor. Despite Connor's faces in all these pics...I'm pretty sure he likes Taegen too.
With their pumpkins.

The whole class.
Taegen and one of his teachers, Mrs. Krilein. (I know I didn't spell that right but oh well)
Strider boy.
Chasing me with the straw.
Taeg's playing in the straw. He looks like he LOVES it. Doesn't he?
This is what Strider and I did while the kids were playing. I bough 1 bushel of "second" apples to make applesauce. Joy!

Taegen has totally turned into a little boy now. He is no longer a baby or even a toddler. He is so big. He is so much fun. He loves to play games - any games, he is a GREAT older brother. He has official friends now. That he knows there names and everything. Kids come over to see if he can come out and play. He is just getting so big. He says some really cute things too.

  • He only calls Strider - Baby. He NEVER calls him Strider.
  • When Kyler is sad or mad Taegen uses a high-pitched-smaller-kid-voice to talk to Kyler.
  • He LOVES Kyler and Kyler LOVES Taegen. They would much rather hold each others hands when crossing the street instead of mine.
  • Taegen says "Train Train Choo" instead of Choo Choo Train. It's funny really!
  • He thinks the Dr's name is appointment. When we went last week for Strider he said "I want to show Dr. Appointment my coloring book." "Are we going to Dr. Appointments?"
  • The other day I asked him what time it was and he answered "4 ounces."
All in all, he is so much fun to be around. He really is a character (as my Grandma Stapp would have said if she knew him.) We love him (and he loves us too).

Religion?

This is how Taegen prays at school...
This is how Taegen prays at home and church....Taegen goes to Christ Lutheran Pre-school. Every morning they have chapel time where the pastor teaches them a Bible lesson and they pray. I don't mind that he is learning Bible stories because, after all, I should be teaching him those anyways. The problem is that now I feel like I should be teaching him our, LDS, beliefs. Easier said that done (for me). That would mean that I would have to know what our beliefs are. Maybe I should just hope that once he's out of preschool he will forget what "they" believe and he will then remember the things "we" believe. Hmmm...maybe I'll stick with the second option for now.

Funny Taegen

When we were swimming over Labor Day this is the conversation Ryan had with Taegen.

Taegen: "Dad, why are you wearing those?" pointing to Ryan's nipples.
Ryan: "Taegen, why are you wearing those?" pointing to Taegen's nipples.
Taegen: "Mine are little, dad."

Precious!

Taegen's 1st day of school.

My big boy is now in pre-school. Taegen has been waiting FOREVER to go to school. Kyler started school in April and seriously Taegen has wanted to go every single day with Kyler. He's so cute. Whenever he realized that he wasn't going to be able to go on the bus. He wouldn't get mad. He would say "Kyler...you get to ride the bus today? Does that sound fun?" He is such a good big brother. But today was the day. He was so excited. We got to his school and he got to hang his back pack up on his hook. Then he went and met the teacher and he was just playing in the room. I was watching him and he said "Mom, you can leave." "Mom, why aren't you leaving?" As the other kids were clinging to their parents crying. I told him I wanted to take one more picture with him. We took the picture and he said "OK - bye mom. Are you leaving now?" And he waved good-bye.
My two big boys off to school. Kyler to Cardinal Elementary. Taegen to Christ Lutheran Pre-school.This is Taegen's teacher Mrs. Kreilein (pronounced Cryline). There are 15 kids in Taegens class. He goes Tuesday and Thursday from 9 - 11:30 a.m. He's such a big boy!He really has been so excited. I think having watched Kyler get on the bus so many times made him even more ready for his own school adventures. Yeah Taeg's!
Me with my baby boy. Isn't he handsome? Now, what on earth will I do with just one kid at home. Wow!!

Say Cheese...

Today is Kyler's picture day at school. I told him to smile for his pictures before he left for school. That got the boys' started. They LOVE for me to tell them NOT to smile...then they smile. If I tell them to smile they don't. Only if I tell them NOT too. Maybe that explains why they disobey me in other things too. How enlightening! I'll have to try telling them to hit each other and to not clean up their toys....we'll see!
Seriously...I ADORE these boys!

Definite Progress....

So we are definitely making progress with Taegen. Saturday we had NO accidents. Sunday we had a pee accident in the evening. He is doing Super! I am very encouraged. This was what happened at church yesterday. I went in to get him out of nursery to take him to the potty. We ran into the bathroom. Sit him on the toilet.

Taegen: "I need to poop."
He seriously starting pushing harder than I thought possible without producing any substance (sorry to be so graphic).
Taegen: "It's stuck"
He proceeds to reach his hands behind him and I hurriedly say "No No No Taegen. We don't touch our bums when we're pooping."
Taegen: "I'm not touching my poop. Look"
I look and he is spreading his cheeks in an attempt to help his movement along.
Taegen (while spreading): "Come out poopies. Poopies come out."
It was awesome. I was so proud of my lil' boy.
I wiped him even though there was nothing in the toilet and so Taegen wanted to try too. He grabbed some toilet paper and wiped and then looked at it (disgusting, I know). He saw a smidgeon and said "mom, I pooped. Yeah!"

So with that...I'll take it! Progression in the potty training area!

One more side note: Taegen called my mom the first time he pooped in the toilet and she told him to call her every time he pooped in the potty and she would put a starburst in a cup. Then when we go to Utah in a couple weeks he will get all his starbursts. So...Sunday morning at 7 am Taegen pooped and HAD to call grandma (5:00 am in Utah). I think she might regret ever telling him to call everytime he poops. She will be getting some early morning calls...but Taegen is very excited about it (as am I)

LIFES FRUSTRATIONS:
This is the mother of all vents. This is what makes the rest of the vents seem huge. This causes everything in my life to be so much more annoying than it really should be.
POTTY TRAINING! What the crap! So, every little kid I know that is around Taegen's age is and has been potty trained for quite some time. The Dr and other people tell me to just wait until he is ready. How do I know? It's very difficult to teach Taegen this because Kyler doesn't have to do it...yet! I have tried a couple times putting him in undies and seeing what happens. The first time, the first day he did everything in his undies and nothing in the potty. The Dr told me to wait and try again in a couple weeks. I have tried having a treat bag in the bathroom and he only gets a treat if he goes on the potty. Doesn't work. I have tried having him pee on cheerios. Doesn't work. This week he has been in underwear since Tuesday. Tuesday he had one accident (pee) at 8:00 p.m. in the neighbors garage (sorry Christy). All day long he peed in the toilet. Great job! Wednesday, he peed his pants. 20 minutes later he pooped and peed in his pants. A couple hours later he peed in his pants. I think he went in the toilet once. Thursday (today). He peed in the toilet. Then he pooped his pants and just ran around with it for awhile before I realized it. Then he peed his pants. What the crap! Seriously, I'm SICK SICK SICK of pee and poop. Between changing diapers and dealing with poopy underwear...I'm done! Seriously though, I would rather change a poopy diaper than poopy underwear. Have I given up? Let's just say...Taegen is still in underwear (although I don't know for how much longer). Help me mom!

Ok. I'm done venting. I still have issues I would like to vent but I will wait until a later date. Good day!

Tumbling 101

Well the boys are signed up for tumbling. Today was there first day and they LOVED it. There is 6 kids in their class (4 girls 2 boys). It was fun. Only one girl peed her pants. Kyler attempted to crawl over the "plank" but ended up getting high centered. They really enjoyed themselves. They hopped on one leg, balanced a bean bag, did circles, did an obstacle course...and that was all the first day. My oh my, what will next week bring?
